One of the world's biggest types of trout, the marble trout, is an endangered species. But anglers on the River Soča in the Slovenian Alps are being allowed to catch them again.Marble trout can be up to 120 centimeters long. Fly fishing - which is major league in terms of angling - is the only way the rare fish may be caught. People grab their rods and reels and head for the Soča from April to October in hopes of hooking a marble trout. The survival of the fish as a species can be attributed to the work of the Tolmin Fish Breeding Center. Every year, some 200,000 fry are released into to the wild in order to regenerate stocks.
